• Question: What would happen if all antibiotics were not effective anymore?

      We would have no way of treating bacterial infections and many more people would die. For some infections you wouldn’t necessarily die, but it would take much longer to recover.
      I think we would also have to isolate a lot more people to prevent infections from spreading.
      It’s a scary situation, I hope we don’t get to that point.

      100 years ago, penicillin hadn’t been discovered. People could die or suffer major medical complications from tiny cuts or infections. Without antibiotics, the same could happen today – although the widespread use of antibiotics over the last fifty years means that some strains of bacteria are even more dangerous now than they were back then.

      I’m afraid I would have to agree with the answers below – we would be very susceptible to death from simple infections, and therefore our life expectancy would be much reduced… scary…!
