Maybe the most interesting thing is that we will never run out of things to discover…
I definitely class myself as a scientist, first and foremost. Afterwards, I’m a bit of a chemist, a bit of a biologist. The borders are a bit blurry and that’s a good thing. Within my group there are people who originally studied physics, inorganic chemistry, mechanical engineering, molecular biology, medicine… and we work together on projects about medical imaging. That allows us to learn from each other, and in the end we don’t belong in a specific box.
Yeah I would also class myself as a general scientist or a data communicator. I love seeing all the new things that are discovered all the time and how we can apply them to medicine. There is just so much to discover!
I love taking a question, trying to figure out a way to answer it with experiments, then finally I love to get the data and work out what the biology is trying to tell us. The working out part is my favourite part – I suppose that makes me a detective!?
