I might be biased, but my answer would be a definite YES. Manchester is a great place to study lots of different types of science, including biology, physics and engineering. Manchester University is really big and well-organised, but don’t forget there is also the University of Salford and Manchester Metropolitan Uni, which are also both really good institutions.
Manchester is also the birth place of many discoveries – Ernest Rutherford discovered radiation in Manchester, and Alan Turing made the first computer and was based here. On top of that, graphene was discovered in Manchester too and is set to open up new possibilites in medicine, computing…. the list goes on!
