I am a doctor and I work in hospitals, but for the past 4 years I have been doing a PhD in a lab, full time. This means I have been working with patient blood samples and trying to find out more about them, using different methods. One of the methods which we use to study the immune system is a machine called the flow cytometer which looks at each cell individually!

Hey! I’m a PhD student, which means that I will do scientific research at university for about four years and then write a long report about all my work (called a thesis) at the end. After that, I can be a researcher in a lab anywhere in the world or do a different scientific job. It’s great fun!
