• Question: How do you make sure that astronauts are free from disease when they go into space?

      I’m not an expert on this, but I think astronauts and their spacecraft are very carefully decontaminated and cleaned before they go into space. Another thing NASA worries about is the risk of something from space contaminating the earth – so returning astronauts are kept in ‘biocontainment’ for a few days when they get back to Earth.
