      Hey Jana. Interesting question – it depends what you mean by ‘important’! White blood cells are the body’s final line of defence against infections. They patrol the bloodstream, looking out for infections, then killing them and remembering how to kill them for next time. Without white blood cells, humans become ill very easily due to infections.

      But one organ is maybe just as important as the white blood cells. It’s your largest organ, it regenerates itself all day, every day – your skin! The skin is the first line of defence against infections. Without it, the immune system would be overwhelmed. Your skin has lots of clever mechanisms like making tears and mucus to help keep bad things out. It’s pretty important too!
