anon answered on 8 Mar 2018:
I make models of the extracellular matrix by building them with the components we know are found there at physiological conditions and use biophysical techniques to look at the molecular interactions between signalling proteins and sugars called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). It is a cell-free system done on surfaces such as glass or gold. I can using something called QCM-D to check binding and FRAP to look at diffusion of the molecules.
