• Question: What was the strangest thing you have ever seen in a human body/human cells?

      It wasn’t exactly strange but I found it really cool. Whiles doing my PhD we had a mouse muscle cell line called C2C12. They grow on the surface of the flask they grow in, so a single layer of cells. I was looking down the microscope and I saw them twitching. Muscle cells usually need to be rolled up or have a stimulus applied to them to make them twitch, so was quite surprised when they were twitching away on their own.

      Hmm. Difficult question to answer! I’ve working in the Emergency Department which means I’ve seen quite a few different things in the human body, put there by an accident of course!
