In my job, I get to work with a number of pharmaceutical and biotech companies across the world to help them talk about their drugs or disease areas.
We do things like talk about results from tests of drugs, disease awareness, work with patient groups and patients, internal communications, medical education and media engagement.
Its extremely varied and you could be working on a number of different drugs and diseases so you get to learn a lot of different things. We get to work on a lot of really interesting and cutting edge drugs and help to make a difference to patients.
-
My Typical Day:
There is no typical day in PR!

Every day can be different. It is very exciting but we work long hours and often are away at medical meetings around the world, which is never 9-5.
In a quiet week, we will be working in the office, having calls with clients and writing materials such press releases, media answers or the script for a video about a disease. We could also be planning a big event and having brainstorms about how we will communicate things. We have a lot of meetings and a lot of deliverables to send each day so theres never a dull moment!
In a busy week (normally around a medical congress or a drug approval) we will work much longer hours, either in the office or be on-site at a conference with clients around the world. These are normally very long days but also very fun (and normally with good food!).
